Communications

"Education is an economic imperative and a moral imperative. This is the civil rights issue of our generation. The fight for a quality education is about so much more than education. It's a fight for social justice. There is simply no more important work in our society than education. The president understands that, parents understand that, America understands that. Now we—all of us together—must act on that understanding and move forward.

U.S. Department of Education, Arne Duncan, Secretary 7/2/2009

School Reform and American Education is a topic that appears everyday in almost every imaginable communication mode - everyone seems to have an opinion, criticism or suggestion to offer. All forms of media - print, video and web offer opportunities for everything from scholarly research and reporting (see the Research and Policy link above) to forums and discussion groups. Many pundits and practitioners use Blogs as a means of responding or explaining perspectives and positions.

Blogs have emerged as one of the newest sources of content on the Internet. Blogs, easily created Web sites by authors who publish unsolicited news and opinion, are websites with content management systems that allow visitors to the site to add content. They are forums for organizations and individuals to exchange ideas and communicate. Bloggers represent an immediate source of information and feedback, but also an opportunity to engage a rapidly expanding global network of influential, passionate and involved group of real people who communicate constantly.
